So this is what 8 hours of sleep feels like?!

Guess who slept through the night last night???  I woke up this morning feeling SO refreshed after 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep!!  OK, I did give her a pacifier and fixed her swaddle a little bit at 4:15 when she was stirring and sounded like she was going to wake up, but other than that, I got to sleep from 11pm to 7am!  She went to bed at 7:45pm, I fed her before I went to sleep at 10:45pm and then she woke up happy as can be at 7:00am.  YAY Kiera!  I realize this may not mean I am home free just yet, but now that she has shown me she can do it I have faith that regularly sleeping through the night is almost here!  : )  Now we just need to figure out how to have her not projectile vomit her milk up after the first morning feeding...

She looks just like you!

No, you are not seeing things, this is actually my second post in a week!  : )

So you know how people are always saying that a baby looks just like one parent or the other?  It's funny how we get that all the time... both of us.  Some people insist she looks just like me while others say she is a mini-Joel (although Joel hopes this is not the case as he thinks he would make an ugly woman!).

I decided to post a couple of our baby pictures so you can see what you think... So, who does she look like??  This also made me realize how far photographs have come and how nice it is to have a digital camera so you can take 20 shots just to get a good one and delete the rest!

What have you done with my baby???

My sweet little Kiera caught her first cold! : (  Friday she just started acting like a COMPLETELY different baby... very fussy and always needing to be held, just not like her!  I tried to do some shopping at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and she was just not having it.  She usually loves Nordies!  Grandma Barb and Grandpa Peter babysat Friday night so Joel and I could go to the rodeo (yes, the rodeo, it is his client, but it is actually a lot of fun!).  She didn't sleep well at all and Saturday Kiera was even worse and the sneezing, coughing, red eyes, and slight fever began.  We considered taking her in to see a doctor, but the only option on Saturday night was the ER (not good for a 2 month old with little immunity) so we decided to pass as it really seemed like she just had a cold.  She has slowly started to improve since then and slept pretty well last night.  She was so close to sleeping through the night and then the darn cold came and messed it all up!  But we are back at just one feeding around 4:30 (I think!).  Hopefully my sweet baby will be healthy and back to normal soon!

Kiera after my attempt at a Nordstrom outing

The rodeo was a lot of fun, but during the wild horse wrangling something really sad happened.  One of the wild horses ran right into the wall by the stands.  He fell to the ground and started shaking and then just stopped moving.  It was SO sad.  The cowboys came right over and consoled him and the medical staff sedated him and took him out of the arena but we are sure that he didn't make it.  : (

After the rodeo (hat was a gift from Joel's client!)

In other Kiera news, she is (or at least was, prior to her cold when I could actually put her down on her play mat!) really working on rolling over.  She gets onto her side but then gets stuck on her arm and usually gets mad.  One of these days!

We are also going to have her baptised when we go to my parents house in Idaho in August.  Who knew it would be so ridiculously hard to find a church to baptise your baby at if you aren't a member?!  I need to find a dress for her to wear.  I'm not such a fan of the traditional baptism gowns... the exceptionally long ones with bonnets to match.  I found this burberry dress on sale (but still ridiculously expensive), or even just this white dress from the Gap, less formal, but that's ok I think.  Thoughts??  Please share if you have any suggestions/ideas, time is running out!

What we've been up to...

I swore I would post at least once a week and I've been slacking with no good excuses!  We are all doing great and I am loving hanging out with Kiera every day.  It's so hard to believe I've already been off work for 3 months, but at least I have a few more with her before I have to go back!  She has been entertaining us with her cooing, smiling, attempts to roll over (no success yet), and getting stronger at tummy time.  The weather has been very unsummerlike so far, like June gloom that has continued into July.  I don't even think we saw the sun at all on the 4th of July, how un-San Diego like!  But this week it has finally started to feel like summer!  The sun has been shining and it's supposed to be really hot this weekend.  We have been taking lots of walks and Kiera loves her bassinet attachment for the stroller.

Grandma Jean and Grandpa Bob came down to visit last week and Kiera got to meet Grandpa Bob for the first time!  It was great to have them in town and Kiera already loves sleeping on Grandpa Bob's comfy shoulder just like I did.  He also had a couple shirts specially made for her that say "Lil Tooter"!  He used to call me Tooter and got a big kick out of his new nickname for her.  : )

Kiera also loves her bathtime, which he have started doing every other night.  We had been undressing Kiera in the bedroom prior to her baths and then carrying her quickly into the kitchen where we set up her bathtub... but we learned our lesson on that one!  (I kind of figured we would sooner or later!)  Grandma Jean was carrying her in for her bath with no diaper and she not only peed, but pooped all over the place.  The funniest part was that it went inside of Joel's work bag!  Oops!  I have become pretty good at cleaning up poop these days though so I think I got it back into good working condition!

Kiera has also been working on sleeping though the night!!  I feed her before I go to bed at night between 10:30 and 11:00 and she was continuously going 5 to 6.5 hours a night and then feeding once around 4:00 or 5:00am, but last weekend I decided to see if she would go back to sleep after waking up and stirring, rather than eating since she wasn't really crying, just waking up.  We had success!  She went back to sleep that first night after I provided the pacifier a handful of times and slept until 6:30am.  The last two nights she has gone until about 6:50 after I gave her the pacifier upon waking!  Yay Kiera!

Just a few more pictures...

Nicki dropped off the CD with the pictures of Kiera last night and I couldn't resist posting a few more!  Thanks again Nicki!!  : )

All Smiles!

Kiera is all smiles these days (well, mostly!)!  She will inevitably start cheesing when you place her on her changing table (still seems strange to me that she loves this one!) and talk to her, place her in front of a mirror to look at herself, or let her look at her new favorite toy "Mr. Sunshine" who lights up and plays music.  She loves to be talked to and makes little noises and coos back.  It's so fun to see her changing!  We had our 2 month checkup today (a little early) and she was 10lb 13oz (no wonder she seems to really fill out those 0-3 month clothes all the sudden), 22 inches long, and had a head circumference of 15 inches.  She had to get a few more immunizations today which was probably harder for me than for her!  Daddy held her which helped and one was actually something she ingested orally.  Of the two shots she didn't even seem to notice the first, but the second one made her very unhappy!  I don't think I've ever seen her cry so hard!  : (  Thankfully we don't have to go back and do that again for another two months!
